Leadership knew their priorities but not how they would work together to deliver.

Client: Sustainability Victoria

Challenge:
Executive leaders of this Victorian government agency were recruited amidst a major organisation transformation. Competing pressures meant they didn’t feel they could give attention to their leadership team’s dynamic, even though they knew deep-down that the best strategies would fall short if the new Executive could not work well together.
Shift achieved:

Zing & Co’s series of bespoke team offsites created a dedicated space for the Executive to establish how they would best work as a team. By co-designing each offsite with the leaders, we were able to use their current challenges and goals as live examples, thus advancing their priorities in the process of developing their way of working as an Executive team. Topics included vision-setting, planning, ways of working, and connection.

What began as an initiative to build a productive team dynamic led to improved performance and translated into measurable improvements in employee engagement among the agency’s broader staff (including a 35% boost in “clarity of direction provided by Senior Leaders” on the employee engagement survey).

Reflection:

When everything feels urgent, the people who benefit most from Executives taking a day once a quarter to figure out their team dynamic, are the members of all the other teams in the organisation.
